2,800 Applications Received for 176 Affordable Homes in Wilmington

Abode Communities received 2,800 rental applications for the lease-up of Camino del Mar & Vista del Mar, 176 new affordable family homes in the heart of Wilmington, developed by Abode Communities in partnership with Mercy Housing California. This incredible demand underscores the fact that Los Angeles must develop more than 550,000 more affordable rental homes to meet the housing needs of low-income families throughout the City.

The development of Camino del Mar & Vista del Mar addresses this dire need. The site comprises of the fourth and final phase of the New Dana Strand Revitalization that aims to fulfill the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles’ 15-year vision for the redevelopment of a 20.7-acre post-war public housing site. The first 522 applications are currently being processed for lease up and construction is scheduled to complete in April 2018.

Upon completion, Camino del Mar & Vista del Mar will feature 25 residential buildings with 176 affordable family rental homes, multiple landscaped courtyards, computer stations, secure vehicle and bicycle parking spaces, two onsite property management offices, and two resident resource centers.
