Veteran Commons

Abode Communities and PATH Ventures responded to a competitive Request for Proposals issued to the Los Angeles County Development Authority to transform the underutilized American Legion Hollydale Post 723 into a vibrant, service-enriched affordable and supportive housing community. Vet Commons will be a welcoming home for veterans who have been experiencing homelessness and families, with a preference for Veteran families.

Given the site’s location in the City of Downey bordering the City of South Gate, the developer team collaborated with both cities and the County of Los Angeles to engage a range of stakeholders from the local community, including veterans’ organizations such as the American Legion, East Los Angeles Vet Center (U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs), and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1732.
