Abode Communities, dignitaries, local community celebrate opening of 52 Supportive Homes in Corona

52 Homes at Vista Dorada were developed with Project Homekey funding, a statewide effort to sustain and rapidly expand housing for persons experiencing homelessness

(CORONA, CA) – The County of Riverside and City of Corona, working in partnership with nonprofit affordable housing provider Abode Communities, celebrated the grand opening of Vista Dorada, a supportive housing community featuring 52 homes for people previously experiencing homelessness.

“This initiative serves as a pivotal component in the ongoing endeavors of the County and City teams to create opportunities to move individuals from street living to permanent housing with services,” expressed Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel. “Establishing permanent housing constitutes a crucial element in the homeless action plans of both the County and the City of Corona.”

Vista Dorada epitomizes how highly collaborative partnerships leverage resources to bring critical housing and social service investment for unhoused neighbors and friends in Riverside County. The first Project Homekey site in the City of Corona, the development transforms a former Ayers Hotel into 52 supportive homes and one onsite manager unit thanks to a multi-agency commitment to address homeless in Riverside County.

“The City of Corona is grateful to the State and County for supplying the financial resources that transformed this project from an idea to a reality. The Vista Dorada partnership is a game changer for the City and contributed to our dramatic reduction in street homelessness,” says Corona Mayor Tom Richins.

Developer Abode Communities will own and operate Vista Dorada in perpetuity. A Los Angeles-based nonprofit, Abode Communities is anticipated to deliver new, equitable housing opportunities for families and individuals living in Riverside County through the creation of more than 600 homes over the next five years.

Complimentary onsite case management services are offered to residents to foster independence, recovery, and healing. Services are delivered in partnership with Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health.
