Island Life: Robin Hughes Partners with ULI on Advisory Panel for Future of Affordable Housing in St. Croix

President & CEO Robin Hughes joined Urban Land Institute (ULI) in St. Croix as a panelist comprised of economic and affordable housing leaders to help develop a strategic economic development vision and housing plan for the town of Christiansted in the Caribbean island of St. Croix. Panelists were tasked with developing viable solutions for economic development, affordable housing development, mobility, and peacemaking.

Over five days, the panelists produced and presented a final report which, in summary, determined an overall need for investment in renewable electrical generation, transportation, permaculture methodologies, community-based design, and development of more public spaces for all communities, among more.

The Advisory Services program is one of ULI’s oldest programs – since 1947, ULI has been conducting panels that provide strategic advice to communities and organizations on a wide variety of real estate, planning, urban design and public policy subjects.
