Architecture Translates La Maestra’s Vision to Improve Community Living and Wellness in San Diego
Abode Communities|Architecture has partnered with La Maestra Community Health Centers to provide conceptual design for La Maestra Community Living, a transformational 1.7-acre campus situated in a culturally-rich neighborhood of San Diego combining affordable housing with health and wellness services.
La Maestra boasts 54 affordable and 20 market rate homes for families, seniors, veterans, rapid-rehousing program participants and refugees. The housing component features a private courtyard and resident center all within an environmentally-sustainable setting with green roofs and renewable energy fixtures.
The 79,924 sf community resource center features a wealth of community-serving amenities, including the La Maestra Community Health Centers headquarters; a health clinic; classrooms; a job training office; a community center; community gardens; an imaging center; a performing arts center; a culinary incubator; an arts & crafts room and art exhibit; music rooms; a dance room; administrative offices; a multipurpose room and retail storefronts.
