The Acacia
Abode Communities and Mercy Housing California embarked on an ambitious journey to deliver 110 affordable/workforce homes for educators without reliance on Low Income Housing Tax Credits. To deliver a responsive community development, the team engaged the County of Santa Clara, four school districts, Meta stakeholders, the City of Palo Alto, neighborhood groups, community members, and other stakeholders, connecting with more than 1,700 people to create awareness and provide input on the development’s design and programming.
The project, which now provides critical housing for classified and certificated staff, was developed thanks to a $25M grant from Meta. The County County of Santa Clara was a major underwriter, providing more than $37 million in construction and permanent financing. The housing is offered via a 56-year ground lease agreement, also in partnership with the County of Santa Clara.
