Abode Communities Starts Construction on First 100% Permanent Supportive Housing Development in Lancaster in Partnership with Abbey Road

Abode Communities is excited to announce its partnership with Abbey Road for the construction start of Imagine Village, 75 Permanent Supportive Housing units in Lancaster for homeless veterans, families, and individuals. Nearly 30% of Lancaster residents live below the poverty level (more than double the national average) and some 3,400 veterans call the City home, underscoring a critical need for this type of special needs affordable housing development.

Located in close proximity to retail, educational and medical institutions, this three-story residential development features one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes as well as 6,000 sf of commercial space to be occupied by Penny Lane Centers, who in collaboration with U.S. Vets, will provide an array or specialized supportive services. These services include case management, transportation assistance, educational assistance, job placement and life skills training, among more. Abode Communities will professionally manage the property.

“It is our dream come true to partner with Abode Communities to provide this much needed development,” says Ivelise Markovits, Abbey Road’s Founder. “Abbey Road’s mission is to foster hopes and dreams by developing safe and affordable housing and this project embodies our vision.”

Imagine Village’s wealth of amenities include a children’s play area with a splash pad and rock play; meandering paths; and gathering areas with barbecues, among more. The development was designed by Hatch-Colasuonno and Relativity Architects and is expected to complete construction in January 2019 for the benefit of some 180 extremely low-income people.
